3 Simple Keys to Getting Rid of Fear

Fear is your enemy – no other way to describe it.  I’m not talking about that natural life-preserving action along with a major boost of adrenalin that happens if a wild animal is coming at you.  I’m talking about the fears people live with day in and day out.

Fear is your enemy.  Someone once described fear as, “Sand in the machinery of life.”  Fear doesn’t help you, it hinders you.  Fear doesn’t get you through an open door; it keeps you in the hallway.  Fear never helps you put your best foot forward; it just keeps both of your feet in cement.

The psychology of today is, “Learn to live with your fears”, “Embrace your fears”, “It’s normal to have fears – everybody does.”

It’s true; lots of people do have fears. And there are people who are trying to learn how to live with their fears, and embrace them.

But if it’s “normal” to have fears, then why would the Bible talk about being delivered from all your fears?

Think about it - if it’s normal to have fears, and you had no fears, then you would be abnormal, right?  Well why would God want you to be abnormal?

He doesn’t.  He truly desires for you to be set free from all your fears.

There are many facets and aspects of fear.  One of the big ones is having fear of what others think of you.  People do things, say things, and even buy things because of the fear that they have of what others think.

Many times people join clubs or organizations because they are afraid that if they don’t, others might think badly of them.

People say things and talk a certain way because they are afraid that they might not say the right thing in front of the right people.

People purchase items because of fear not measuring up to those around them.  And on and on it goes.

You don’t have to live with fear.  Here are 3 simple keys to getting rid of fear.

First, start by realizing that God truly loves you and that His love for you is unconditional.  The Bible teaches that nothing can separate you from His love. Nothing.  His love for you does not change, ever!

Second, ask God to help you to get rid of all your fears.  He has promised to deliver you from all your fears.  That is His desire for you – a life without fear.

Third, make decisions based on what is best for you, not how it may or may not appear to others.  You’ll never, ever be able to please everyone, so stop trying to.  You’ll never, ever be right in everybody’s eyes, so stop trying to.

When you make a decision, ask yourself, “Why am I making this decision?  Is it based on fear?”  Make decisions based on what is right and best for your life, regardless of what others think.

You can live without fear.

Learn how to motivate others: 5 simple ways

When your friend is feeling down, it might be very difficult for you to motivate them. But right now, they need you to be there for them. So here are a few tips on how to motivate someone who needs the motivation.

  1. Be motivated yourself

You are never going to be able to motivate others if you are not motivated yourself. So get motivated yourself before you try and motivate others.

  1. Be kind

What your friend needs right now is someone to acknowledge their contribution and self worth. You need to learn to be kind to your friends or family. Hand out praises when warranted. Whenever someone told you that you did a good job, didn’t that give you a surge of pride and the motivation to do better? Well, this is the same case. When people are treated right and their contribution are acknowledged, it’s such a motivation booster.

  1. Be a good listener

Before you start advising your friend on how to get motivated, listen to their problems first. What is it that they are actually worried about? Let them get it all of their chest. Once they are done, help them to break down their problems and focus on problem solving together to find ways that your friend can solve their problem.

  1. Don’t judge them

If you already motivated them, and they fail, remember not to judge them. Instead encourage them to try again. Persuade them. Tell them that their failure is just a minor setback and they should treat failure as a feedback for greater successes. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

  1. Keep in touch

Lastly remember to always keep in touch with them. Check on them to see how they are progressing. That way, whenever your friend is feeling down and out of it, you will be right there to pick them right back up again.

So here are a few simple ways to motivate your friends, it may be simple, but it is incredibly effective.

Acceptance to Better your Personal Life

Do you have the knack to accept the things you can change and the things you can't change?  Can you accept the numerous changes that occur in your life?

When you are able to accept things in life, including you and other people you find a way to take charge. When you're in command, it helps you to see how you are able to better your personal life. When you learn to accept you'll learn to discover you.

Many individuals in the world believe that when we act the same way at all times, we have instituted our identity. Politically incorrect! We have emotions, thoughts, behaviors, actions, and have been infested by a world of influences both great and foul. Every day we will feel something new, which causes our personality to reflect these modifications.

We live in a world that desensitizes us. We're surrounded by 1000000000000s of influences on TV, in the media, on radio, in homes, government, schools, etc. Each to their own, but everybody is judging somebody at some time, which is something we have to accept. We can't alter these people’s behaviors and ways of thinking, but we may change ours. This is a component of learning and accepting. The best way around the world is to become your own influence and let other influences make another person's life misfortunate.

Once you learn to accept you'll be eager to laugh. For example, if somebody makes you crazy you'll see the humor in his or her actions. You might see the humor in your actions if you make an error and feed into their stupidity. Once you begin to see the humor in life, you'll feel better inside. When you learn to change to better you, others might follow. Good conduct has proven far more effective than words to promote others to change.

As you grow you'll feel a fresh hunger, and that hunger will guide you to discover fresh ways to better you. In time as you begin to feel better, you will see a need to exercise, eat correctly, and hang out with positive influences, and so on. Once you feel this hunger, you'll feel inspired to labor to accomplish your goals.

August Challenge: Simplify... Organize

Simplify... Organize... Lighten the Load
This has been the tagline, and my mantra, for Organizing Resources since 1994. First simplify, then organize to lighten the load.
The first week in August is National Simplify Your Life Week. What does that mean to you?
For me, it is seven days to make a difference in my life. It is the perfect time to reduce the stress associated with over commitments, over abundance, over spending. It is a week to think about goals and how to move forward to accomplishment. It is a time to focus on an abundant life where my needs are met.
Read on for more information as I break down this statement and see how it all comes together.
SIMPLIFY... Simply put, the less you own, the easier it is to care for everything. Why? Because life if full of choices, more choices today than ever before, and more opportunities to create havoc and chaos in your life.
Too Many Choices:
> Where to work
> Where to live
> What to wear
> What to eat
> Where to travel
> What to buy for our household
and so many more...
In today's fast-paced world, there is too much to do, too many demands, an overload of information and way too little time. And, there are opportunities every day to add more to our lives. With each new addition we lose some space - environmental, physical, emotional and mental space.
Ask yourself:
> When was the last time I used this item?
> Under what circumstances would I need it again?
> Does it add beauty and joy to my life?
> Is it a treasure that warms my heart?
> Does it augment my life's purpose, or is it simply a status of my lifestyle?
Avoid playing mind games with the belief that the unused, yet perfectly good items, maybe useful to you someday. Be aware of words like someday, maybe, should, somewhere, somehow? Such thoughts only add more pressure to keep those items that add little value to your life's purpose.
The objective of 'Simplify' is to move out of the house all items that are not serving you, no matter how useful they may be. They are just taking up precious space -- prime real estate. Consider it hoarding if you keep something that you are not using. There are others out there looking for that useful item. Start sharing!
ORGANIZE... Now that you have purged the broken, unloved and unwanted items, it is time to look around and identify what is left. The process of organizing will be much easier when you let go of the unnecessary items. You control clutter only when you have less of everything. In other words, less is truly more.
Organizing means to find a home for everything, a home that is logical, cost-effective and appropriate. This is not a step that simply puts things into storage. It is about retrieval - easy access. The ultimate goal is to be able to find what you want when you want it. Remember, abundant living is having enough, not too much, having what you need and needing what you have.

Start the organizing project by planning...
> What area needs attention?
> What benefits will you gain by getting organized?
> How much time will it take? Don't underestimate!
> Schedule an appointment with yourself to accomplish each area or zone.
> Align your goals with your priorities?
LIGHTEN THE LOAD... A place for EVERYTHING, and EVERYTHING in its place!
"Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated." ~ Confucius

How To Assess Your Life

Here is an excellent reason why you should assess your life. If at times, you do not evaluate or adjust your goals based on your purpose, or mission statement, you may spend your whole life climbing the ladder of success, only to realize, once you get to the top, that it is leaning against the wrong wall.
How can you identify your top goals? In what manner is it important to you? Why should you evaluate your life as it is today? What is working or is not? And what areas should you want to change, reset or improve?
"No one has ever climbed the ladder of success with both hands in their pockets." - Zig Z.
And yet, a lot of people do not even know there is a ladder. No one wants to find themselves stuck in an unfulfilled life, so the more reason to assess it when the little voice inside you tells you to do so.
But life does not have to be a politically correct or mundane process. You have the right to make your own choices, the ones that align with your desires and wants. By getting off the grid for a day or two, you take the time to think, reflect, assess and adjust your life. It can become a journey of purpose and passion, but you have to be very honest with yourself.
The Valued Process of Assessment
If you do not confront your life once in a while, you are destined to be stuck in something you may not enjoy for the rest of your existence. It is what happens to the majority of people. And that is why all of us, without exception, will, go or went through one or two mid-life crisis.
However, each New Year, countless people make resolutions to change but forget all about it in February. But the ideal time is anytime you feel like it, so yes, you should reflect, assess and ruminate. Yet, sadly, so many people still neglect this valued and priceless process.
In fact, I am pretty sure you heard people or even yourself say one of these statements: "It's not worth my time." "I don't have a minute to myself." "Who is going to pay the bills?" So many folks work at a job they do not like just to make a living.
Why You Should Assess Your Life
There are times when you have to rethink your life. You have to recognize where your time and effort is best spent or poorly spent. You need to identify the indicators of progress and regression.
And you must realize what your strengths and your weaknesses are.
So, when you assess your existence, it gives you a delightful sense of slowing time down. You can do more, and it leads you on the right path by correcting your journey. You can go over the best moments in your life and correct. And you internalize and keep in mind the lessons learned.
"There are three methods by which we may learn wisdom: first, by reflection, which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest." - Confucius
Stay in Control of Your Life
When you act without reflecting on things, it is like driving a car without brakes. You go faster, but it often leads to a negative result. Things are mostly out of your control. So, to have the ability to stop and assess your life is what makes your journey safer, more memorable, and much more powerful.
So, assessments give you a stronger awareness and insight on how to predict challenges, barriers, and behaviors. It helps you make some necessary adjustments to what is not working. In this way, you can move forward with more determination on that which is working for you.
And as you assess your life, it brings clarity to where you should be in life. It shows you that you are or not on the right track. But most people do not ever follow their true calling, mission or purpose. Yet, what difference would it make to the world we live in if they did. There would undoubtedly be more creativity, inventions, solutions, and problems resolved!
How to Assess Your Life
  1. Take a day to reflect, assess and adjust your goals. It means being away from daily distractions. Go alone to whatever place you consider your cocoon of peace. Treat yourself to a time off and enjoy the process of evaluation. Remember, to live a fulfilling life, assessment is required and is beneficial to your future.
  2. Put away or turn off your cell phone. It is the number one reason for disturbing your private and personal time. So, you do not need your phone to assess your life; you need quiet.
  3. Turn off your computer if you are assessing in the same room and avoid the internet. Then, put only a pen and paper near you. Let go of everything else. Close your eyes. Re-live how far you have come and where you are now. Is it the place you want to be and really desire in your existence?
  4. Then record your thoughts by writing them down. Understand that writing is much more powerful than passive thinking. Remembering, learning, creativity, and commitment are way higher when physical writing on paper is required. And realize that your notes will serve as a map and source of inspiration for the adjustments you might have to make in life.
  5. Begin to find ways to adjust your mission to the life you have now. Ask the right questions to the right people or books. The most beautiful ideas, insights, and discoveries humans have made started by assessing their lives.
Therefore, you have to ponder, wonder, reflect, and reevaluate every time you hear this little voice of yours telling you it is time to assess your life. You will then live a much more satisfying and happy existence instead of just living through the days wondering what could be or might have been. It is your life!

Let Yourself Shine

Day in and day out, you are connecting with family, friends, co-workers, service professionals and strangers. In these connections lies the opportunity to create a positive impact upon your life and that of the other person. Whether you verbally engage, or silently brush by, you have the chance to let yourself shine! What message do you silently convey to the people on your path? Are you pleased with the energy you leave behind?
You cannot control how others receive your words or body language, but you can become self-aware, and exercise control over yourself from a place of awareness.
I recently had the best time holding my little great-nephew. He is 3 months old and a joy to snuggle. His head fit against my chest while his feet curled up in the palm of my hands. While I was holding him, I instinctively walked, bounced and cooed in order to engage with him in a manner that felt good for him. At the same time, I was on cloud-nine, feeling wonderful about our interaction.
I know the next run-in with your boss may not be as magical as holding a precious infant, but you can elect to put your attention upon your behavior - your words and body language, and feel excellent about them. Since you cannot control your boss, stay clear minded about your response to her. Imagine you are tending to a baby. Your instincts would be nurturing, gentle and thoughtful. Now imagine you are that innocent baby and you want to be so careful so as not to be harsh with her. With this gentleness in place, tune in to your words, gestures, eye-contact, and facial expressions. Let yourself shine and see how events unfold in a positive manner.
When you are self-aware and representing your best self to all who cross your path, you are living your best life. Sometimes we must rely upon our reserves - strength we have developed in the past that when called upon, will serve us now. Other times we will come up with creative solutions in the moment. When you are self-aware and allow your light to shine you will leave behind your glow with those on your path, and you will take that glow onward with you.
Are you ready to get clear about the outcomes you desire yet are worried about what obstacles are in the way? Maybe you have an opportunity, but are not certain about what your options are. Coaching is an opportunity to explore Outcomes - Obstacles - Options - and Opportunities.
You know the outcome you want. Obstacles are in the way. Namely, fear. Ready for the work you love, peaceful parenting, vibrant health, happy relationships? Contact Carla for your Breakthrough Session: carla@getcoached.com

How to Declutter

Do you find yourself chasing more stuff and not looking at what you already have or recycling what you already have to make room for more space in your life?
Clutter is all around us. We live in a consumer culture that propels us to buy more and more stuff every day. We are always lacking something. And the advertisers convince us that it is not only okay to purchase more and more stuff but it is encouraged.
After all, we wouldn't want to miss out on what our neighbours have, would we? And ideally, we would like to be first in purchasing the prized possession. That way, we could be in with the crowd of consumers. But is this really important?
If you are like most people, you are cluttered to the hilt. Our homes are loaded with stuff, some of which we will never use. Our attics are cluttered with memorabilia that we will probably never look at again. Our basements and garages have so much stuff in it that we can no longer see what is useful from what isn't.
Some of us even have storage units somewhere away from our home. As soon as we remove the stuff we aren't using, we believe that it is gone and we don't have to deal with it any longer. But aren't we wasting money renting a space for stuff that we no longer need?
I believe, we have gotten into a real rut in our current culture. Most of us don't even know how to weed out what is useful and what isn't with our possessions. Here are a few tips to try to do just that.
1. Decide which room you will de-clutter first. Choose one that is easiest to clean up so that you could see the difference between a cluttered room and a non-cluttered room.
2. Enter the room and sit down in a comfy chair or on the bed. Close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths. Do this for a few minutes. Then look around the room as if you are a visitor. Ask yourself the following questions:
• Do I need this?
• Does it belong here?
• Does it fit who I am now?
Many times, we have things which don't serve us now. If the item in question doesn't serve you any more, discard it. Give it to a local charity or toss it out.

By taking these simple steps, we will be de-cluttering our house and surroundings. In the process, we will feel lighter and we will feel less stuck.
We don't have to follow our culture and do everything it dictates. We can live a de-cluttered life, one that is free from stuff and more focused on other things that help us thrive and live well. I encourage you to look for you're more focused and de-cluttered life. It's worth it!

Eat More Popcorn: The Truth about Subliminal Messaging Technology

The story goes that market researcher James Vicary conducted an experiment to prove the effectiveness of subliminal messages.

Vicary exposed movie-goers to short subliminal messages containing the phrases “Eat Popcorn” and “Drink Coca-Cola” that were believed to have increased sales for those particular products. When challenged, Vicary was unable to replicate the results and was forced to admit that the data was too small to be of any real or lasting significance. Whether or not these messages did influence the audience, the story and its reported outcomes helped to spur on investigation into how our brains work.

Things have moved on a great deal since Vicary’s time. New technology has made it possible for researchers to study what happens in the human brain in incredible detail. fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging) machines are able to map the activity of the brain by detecting changes in blood flow as brain activity varies. What many of these researchers are trying to discover with these techniques is the extent to which the subconscious brain influences the decision-making process. It has even resulted in the creation of a whole new branch of scientific study, called neuroscience.

So Do Subliminal Messages Work?

Here’s what we know so far…

Our brain has two distinct sides to it, the conscious and the subconscious. For many years we believed that every decision we made was done so in a rational manner, consciously chosen by us. But new research (check out Leonard Mlodinow’s book ‘Subliminal: How Your Unconscious Mind Rules Your Behavior’) is challenging that idea in a big way.

It now appears that your subconscious mind is the control center, thought to be a million times more powerful than the conscious mind. Scientists are suggesting that every action you take, and every decision you make, is the result of a set of subconscious processes. So even though you think you’re making conscious, rational decisions, your subconscious is actually feeding that information to its less potent cousin.

For anyone interested in the application of subliminal messaging technology, that’s a significant fact. We now know for certain that the subconscious is the boss, the bit of our brain that’s in control, running our lives and informing our behavior. It therefore makes more sense than ever to find ways to use that knowledge that will enable people to make real changes in their lives.

Hungry for Answers

There’s still a long way to go and plenty more to be discovered, but one thing is certain. Any tool or technique that manages to infiltrate the subconscious mind has a good chance of helping people take more control over their lives. Research clearly indicates that, in order for any kind of serious change to take place, the subject has to be motivated to make that change happen. It seems perfectly logical then that with the right incentive and access to bona fide, reputable subliminal recordings, it should be relatively easy to eliminate bad habits, boost brain power, infuse yourself with energy, or any of hundreds of other improvements.

So is it the message that’s important, or the motivation? In the end, what matters is the result. More and more people are turning to subliminal messaging technology to improve the quality of their lives – and as long as it works for them, that’s all the justification the technology will ever need.

How to Create Your Own Simple Subliminal Messages

Subliminal messaging technology is a complicated mixture of many different variables that can’t be thrown together at home in some kind of DIY fashion. However, there are some simple steps you can take that will help you come up with basic subliminal message recordings.

Why make your own recordings, especially when there are so many ready-made ones available? You might want to target a specific need using your own voice, or using your partner’s voice, or using a particular musical track. Devising your own recording in this way adds that personal touch you can’t get anywhere else.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Pinpoint the reason for the recording. In other words, what do you want the recording to help you achieve? What do you want to change? What’s the ultimate goal behind making the recording in the first place? Be as specific as you possibly can so that you’ll be able to fine-tune your messages for maximum impact.

  1. Write positive affirmations that fit your specific goal. Affirmations are generally short, positive, and written in the first person. If your goal is to lose weight, for example, then your affirmations might resemble these:

o   I can lose weight easily.
o   I am able to stick to my diet.
o   I am getting slimmer every day.

The more positive affirmations you write the better. You want to be able to influence your subconscious mind with as many positive and motivating phrases as possible.

  1. Put your affirmations to work on your behalf. There are two different ways you can do this:
o   Choose the 5 strongest affirmations, write them down, and repeat them to yourself every morning and night.
o   Record all of the affirmations and listen to them at any time of day when you have a few minutes of spare time.

  1. If you want to record your affirmations in a more professional manner, you’ll need to use some form of audio recording software. This allows you to layer vocal and musical tracks together, mix them up, play them backwards, pan them from left to right, and so on. Free software such as Audacity would be perfect for this.

  1. Save your recording as an Audacity file, even if you think it’s perfect. You can export it as an MP3 file to play on any device, but there may come a time in the future when you want to add additional affirmations to it. Saving it in this manner gives you the option of changing or extending the subliminal recording at a later date.

  1. Transfer your MP3 recording to the medium of your choice (CD, phone, MP3 player, etc.) and listen to it at your leisure. Best times for listening are when you’re not busy doing something else, and while you’re sleeping. Listen while you’re relaxing to give the messages a chance to make their way into your subconscious, without outside distractions making things more difficult.

The final crucial ingredient in the process is patience. If you expect to read your affirmations or listen to your messages once and completely change your life, you’re going to be disappointed. Your subconscious mind needs time to absorb the information and reprogram itself to your new way of thinking, and that takes as long as it takes. So be persistent, keep listening (or reading), and your dedication and determination will be rewarded.

If that all sounds like too much hard work, you can take advantage of hundreds of ready-made subliminal messages using the very latest technology. Check online to explore the wide range of sessions which have been specially designed to address almost every area of your life.

What Hypnosis Can Do for You

Hypnosis – huh – what is it good for? Absolutely anything.

That might be a slight exaggeration, but the truth is that hypnosis is being used more and more regularly to treat a wide range of conditions. Apart from its well-known benefits to help people quit smoking, lose weight, gain confidence, and a host of other self-help issues, the practice is gaining wider acceptance in the treatment of illness and disease.

One of the problems with hypnosis is the word itself. It’s been hyped to the max in Hollywood movies and the like, when in reality hypnosis is nothing like that. Hypnotizing someone by asking them to look into your eyes as you swing a pocket watch back and forth will be about as effective – and as successful – as asking your bank manager for a loan you don’t have to pay back.

Hypnosis Makes You Receptive to Change

People fear the idea of hypnosis more than hypnosis itself, because they simply don’t really understand what it is. They wonder if they’ll go into a trance from which they won’t be able to wake up, or if the hypnotherapist will implant some wicked command in their mind as part of an evil scheme. But neither of these things could ever happen to anyone.

When you allow yourself to be hypnotized, the so-called “trance-like state” you enter is simply a state of focused attention. Your mind is relaxed, which makes it easier for you to accept suggestions and imagine possibilities. But you have to want to be hypnotized; you have to want to make changes in your life, or there isn’t a person on earth who can force you.

So what can you use hypnosis for? The practical applications are growing in number all the time and they include, among other things, the treatment of:

  • Asthma
  • Chronic pain
  • Pain during labor
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Snoring
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • ADHD
  • Warts and psoriasis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis

Hypnosis has also been successfully used to facilitate dental and surgical procedures without the need for anesthesia. When used to help people kick bad habits, such as quitting smoking or losing weight, hypnotherapy is effective in at least fifty per cent of cases. It can even be employed to lower a person’s blood pressure.

Hypnosis is a Natural State

Don’t let the idea of hypnosis keep you from experiencing it. In fact, you’ve already experienced it without even realizing! If you’ve ever found yourself daydreaming while reading a book or watching a movie, that’s exactly what hypnosis is like. You lose yourself in what you’re doing, and your attention is focused entirely on the act you’re performing to the exclusion of everything else.

During hypnotherapy, the therapist helps you achieve this daydream-like state on purpose. You shut out all external stimuli and direct your attention to a single thought, helping fire up your imagination and switch off your logical conscious mind. And that’s when you are most susceptible to suggestions.

If there’s an issue in your life you need to resolve, mental or physical, then maybe it’s time you thought about hypnosis as a possible solution. These days you can find a qualified hypnotherapist in any city, or you might prefer to tackle the problem in the comfort of your own home using hypnosis audio MP3s. Whichever route you decide to take, hypnosis could turn out to be your new best friend.

10 Surprising Facts About Meditation

Many of us are already aware of meditation and its incredible benefits. Learning to meditate can help us to achieve a better quality of life, in the sense of improving our overall mood and lowering our stress levels. Meditation has been around for an extremely long time, but there might be some aspects you are not familiar with. If you want to know more about the art of meditation, then here are 10 surprising facts.

1. It makes you more alert
Regular meditation helps to enhance your brain function, so your concentration is vastly improved. Several studies have been carried out to test how meditation affects your concentration, and many have demonstrated that those who regularly meditate are more alert than others.

2. It makes you smart
Harvard University Medical School recently published a study revealing that regular meditation improves grey matter density within the brain. This helps to expand on your ability to learn new information and preserve it. It can also assist in controlling your emotions too.

3.  Anyone can do it
All ages can benefit from meditation. You don’t need to be a specific age, gender, or even be a spiritual person. The beauty of meditation is that it has no limits. Some schools around the world now teach their students how to meditate as its advantages can work for everyone.

4. You can meditate anywhere
While meditating in a quiet space is highly effective, some are able to meditate in any location. You can meditate while walking, travelling on public transport, or while sat at your desk. Do what works best for you.

5. There is more than one way to meditate
Many people believe that there is only one form of meditation, but there are actually many techniques. From simple breathing methods to mantra meditation, the ones you choose to explore will depend on what suits your needs.

6. You can’t control your thoughts
While meditation aids a healthier emotional state, you can’t control your thoughts. If you are going to meditate, it’s completely natural that your mind will wander to other aspects. Letting your thoughts be free is all part of meditation. The more you practise, the more positives you will see, but the key is to accept your thoughts and not push them away.

7. A few minutes of meditation can benefit
If you don’t have a lot of free time, meditating for just a few minutes can restore your life. For those new to meditation, just five minutes can really help.

8. It’s linked to mindfulness
Mindfulness meditation is a popular technique. While meditation and mindfulness are linked, they’re not completely the same.

9. It can boost your overall health
Though meditation has astonishing benefits for the mind, it can also help to boost your immunity, lower your blood pressure, and reduce tension in your body.

10. You can use audio
Using audio during meditation shapes an efficient program. Whether you prefer soft music or an audio podcast, beginners or those who struggle to focus can progress. For a free brainwave meditation audio, try Zen12 and gain an hours’ worth of benefits in just 12 minutes.

Taking the Mystery out of Meditation

For many people, the word “meditation” conjures up images of monks in a monastery, draped in long, flowing garments as they sit around in silence seeking that oh-so-elusive state of enlightenment. But, really, that’s not what it is at all.

It might surprise you to learn that you can practice meditation anywhere and at any time. In fact, if you weren’t busy reading this article, you could do it right now. All it takes is a few minutes of your time and the ability to focus on something. So why do so many people struggle with the concept?

You probably know that meditation began thousands of years ago as a spiritual practice. But we’re in the 21st century now, things have moved on a lot since then, and it’s time to get rid of the myths and old wives’ tales surrounding meditation and muddying the waters once and for all.

Myth No. 1: You need to clear your mind
If you’ve ever tried it, you’ll know this is literally impossible. The idea is not to empty your mind, but to slow it down so you can regain a bit of perspective.

Myth No. 2: You need to sit still for hours on end
Who’s got that kind of time? It’s better to meditate for 5 or 10 minutes every day than not at all. Just sit somewhere and focus on your breathing. Simple, right?

Myth No. 3: You need training to do it right
Basic meditation is achievable by anyone. You can do it as you walk to the bus or tube station, or when you’re soaking in the tub. Find something to focus on like your breathing or your footsteps. Your mind will wander, but just bring it back to what you were focusing on and… voila! That’s meditation.

Myth No. 4: You need to be a bit of a geek
Geeks can meditate if they want to, but so can everyone else. You don’t have to learn Sanskrit to do it – just sit somewhere and breathe. You’ll be joining a group of more than 30 million Americans, including NFL players and US Marines. They can’t all be geeks, can they?

Myth No. 5: It’s too difficult!
No, it’s not difficult at all. The only difficult part is getting started, finding the opportunity to meditate that first time. And speaking of time…

Myth No. 6: It takes too long
How long do you spend checking messages on your phone? Reading updates on Facebook? Watching TV? Sending Tweets? You’ve got plenty of time to spare – so take 5 or 10 minutes to do something that will seriously benefit your physical and mental health.

The secret is to fit meditation into your lifestyle. Spend a few minutes in the garden breathing in the aromas around you. Close your eyes and listen to the sounds in your neighborhood. Take 2 minutes before you get out of bed in the morning to think about the people you love. They’re all examples of simple, practical methods of meditation, and you don’t have to be a monk to achieve any of them.
