How To Be Confident In Any Situation #DonDraper #CharismaOnCommand #Confidence via @CharismaOn

For many men, Don Draper is the epitome of confidence. What most people don’t realize is that confidence actually comes in two flavors. There is the external confidence that you project, which can make closing deals, making friends or seducing happen more naturally. There is also the internal confidence you feel which is how comfortable you are in any given situation. In this video, we’re going to analyze what Don can teach us about both levels of confidence, and how mastering each level can take you from being nervous to completely confident in any situation.

⏰TIMESTAMPS⏰ 0:41 - Lesson #1: His relaxed body language. 2:58 - Lesson #2: Don is non-reactive. 5:18 - Lesson #3: He doesn’t try to convince other people. 6:57 - Lesson #4: The belief that he will be okay, no matter what.

Success Habits And Secrets Of Successful People: How They Achieve A Prosperous Life

It takes guts, insight and decision to choose to become a business owner and to help you might want to consider some ideas from the secrets of truly successful people.
Running a one-person organization is an imaginative, difficult and flexible way to become your own employer and chart your success in life, to be and prosper in good health with vibrant over-all well-being.
It is about developing a life, as it is about making a living.
From the relatively safe cocoon of the corporate world, where paychecks get here regularly, you might otherwise be thinking about venturing into the unchartered territories of an entrepreneurial service.
Is there a method to figure out whether you can adopt the success habits and be an effective business owner, or you are better off to work for someone else?
Most effective business owners share this bundle of qualities I will mention today.
To attain the kind of success and a prosperous life that you want, you need to dream big.
I mean, you need to have big dreams for yourself - which you desire to be someone rich, satisfied or popular deep within to your inner-most-core.
You need to have a clear vision of exactly what you want to accomplish.
As you read along and absorb what this article offers you, keep in mind this principle from the text of the Course in Miracles stating, "When you have accepted your mission to extend peace you will find peace, for by making it manifest you will see it."
Effective business owners who have the secrets of successful people possess an attitude of openness and spiritual growth.
Yes, it takes tons of faith that you can have what you want if you can merely imagine it as the primary step on the path of action to acquiring it.
Management gurus have taught us the power of visualization - seeing yourself in your mind as having accomplished your dreams.
Visualize yourself signing books for a crowd of people who have actually lined up to have your autograph, if you desire to be an effective writer and author of helpful books and more.
If you want to be rich, see yourself in glamorous surroundings holding a fat savings account, and the procedure of picturing success for you should be a consistent activity!

True Belief
You have to believe that you will be prosperous in life every waking hour.
An individual self-improvement coach shared her little secret to help her constantly picture her objectives and goals for the moment: when opting for climbing up the stairs instead of an elevator, recite your objectives with every foot step upward you take.
If you desire more money, say within yourself, "I will have the resources I need," in every action of the stairs.
This technique will strengthen your objective and keep it fresh in your consciousness.
Be passionate and enthusiastic about the process with exactly what you do. You begin a business to change any or all part of your life.
To achieve this personal transformation, you have to establish or reveal an extreme, individual enthusiasm to the secrets of successful people and change the things that are holding you back so you may live life at your full potential.
Real Passion
Previously I discussed wonderful free information online in the form of e-books and videos about manifesting the life you truly want.
Success in life comes easily if you love exactly what you do.
Why is this?
It's due to the fact that we are more unrelenting in our pursuit of objectives and goals about things that we like and adore.
If you dislike your job today, do you believe you will ever be successful at it? Not in a million years!
You may plod along, even end up being skilled at the jobs, but you will never be a terrific success at it.
You will achieve peak efficiency and do what you have to do to prosper just if you are doing something that interests you, or something that you want and appreciate to extend, to where it helps others in some manner.
Business owners who practice the secrets of successful people do not mind that they are putting in 80-90 hours a week to their company due to the fact that they absolutely like what they do.
Success in life is all about persistence and diligent work, which can just be attained if you are incredibly passionate with your activities, and even with the not-so-fun little details we must address.

Focus on your Strengths
Let's face it; you can not be everything ALL THE TIME to everybody. Each of us has our own strengths and weaknesses.
To be reliable, you need to determine your strengths and focus on it. You will end up being more effective if you are able to transport your efforts to areas that you do best.
In business, for example, if you know you have excellent marketing instincts, then harness this strength and make complete usage of it.
Look for assistance or support in areas that you might be horrible at, such as accounting or bookkeeping.
To change your weakness to strength, think about taking hands-on learning more about your inner Self, perhaps begin a collection or library at home or office with personal transformation videos, books, CD's, and so much more.
You will need to learn to be ALL YOU CAN BE!
Never dwell on Failure
The late Wayne W. Dyer, said something like, "It is not in the nature of your inner real Spirit to begin by quitting."
By the way it was Wayne Dyer who inspired me on my own writing career, and I tell that story in my books.
As an entrepreneur, you need to completely be occupied on your goals and objectives, and of the secrets of successful people is in 'knowing' you can do it.
Believe that exactly what you are doing will contribute to the improvement of your environment and your personal self.
You should have a strong faith in your concept, your capabilities and yourself. You need to believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that you have the ability to acknowledge and fulfill them.
The more you can develop faith in your capability to attain your objectives, the more rapidly you can obtain it.
Your confidence needs to be stabilized from the pitfalls of calculated threats that you need to take to achieve higher rewards.
Effective entrepreneurs that own the secrets of successful people are those who evaluate and minimize lacking thoughts and fear of failure in the pursuit of revenue.
Plan Accordingly
You have a vision, and you have enough faith and love in yourself to think that you can attain your vision.
The Course in Miracles teaches, "Only love is strong because it is undivided."
Do you know ways to get your vision to become a reality in the material world by using the power of manifestation and reflection principles?
To accomplish your vision, you need to have concrete objectives that will provide the stepping-stone to your ultimate vision.
Put your goals in writing; not doing so just makes them as intangible fantasies.
You have to prepare every day in such a way that your every action contributes to the achievement of your vision.

Minimise Your Fear of Presenting With These Simple Confidence Building Tools

Do you also get nervous or fear presenting in public?
Whether you are a CEO, consultant or a soccer mom you not alone!
My friend Andy Lopata even wrote a book called, "And Death Came Third"; based upon an old NY Times survey. It revealed that those who were asked felt speaking in front of colleagues, followed by speaking in front of strangers, were both feared more than death itself!
Now a few decades later, most basic presentation courses still focus on word choice, structure and rhetoric. But when it comes to your pounding heart, lack of breath, sweaty palms and shaky knees, the best solution still offered for your nervousness is, "Practice makes perfect". Understanding and practicing presentation structure and rhetoric definitely helps to minimize your fear of speaking, but will that do it for you?
It didn't for me; especially after my classmates forced me from the stage when my mouth froze shut from the terror I felt from presenting our report. Since that nightmarish experience, I have been studying the mechanics of body language, especially focusing on presentation technique. For over 20 years now, I have held successful workshops in effective presentation technique and efficient body language. For me, the positive comments and presents I have received from happy, empowered participants seems proof that if we can now enjoy presenting, so can you!
So, if you wish to empower yourself to better express your message at a parent/teacher meeting, want to feel even more at home presenting to prospective, yet skeptical buyers or calm down angry shareholders, below are four simple, almost boring tools. Each tool can drastically and effectively help you calm you down and empower you to deliver a clearer, more powerful and actionable message.
These four simple but effective tools to handle your presentation fears are:
· Inspired breathing
· Serve more and perform less
· Remain present
· Unite rather than separate from your listeners
These tools may first appear to be too simple and boring to consider. If so, consider this, how good have all those complicated and expensive tools worked in relieving your presentation nervousness? Even worse, how many times have you bit your tongue and remained silent on something important because you were too scared to speak out?
If you are serious about enhancing your self-expression and getting more stuff done, then simply try the following:
Inspired Breathing:
You can either inspire yourself and others by breathing more, or you can stop breathing and hope to survive your presentation. Beware that if you stop breathing long enough, you will expire. The more and deeper you breathe, the more you relax. The more you relax, the more each cell in your body will resonate with your message.
Just like a flute, saxophone or tuba, the more air that flows through a wind instrument, the richer its tone becomes. By using our lungs, vocal chords and mouth, aren't we also wind instruments? Yet we sometimes get nervous or scared and when we do, we breathe less or stop breathing altogether. The more air used also allows for better sound control.
Practice breathing more deeply and consciously to inspire both yourself and those listening. The more relaxed you become, the more easily your message will resonate. The more of you that resonates, the more each of your cells vibrate with your message.
Isn't it true for you too that the deeper and richer the speaker's voice is, the more easily you believe the speaker's message? Consciously take in more air and see if you too resonate more inspiration and believeability.

Serve More and Perform Less:
Standing for and presenting from a platform of service, rather than trying to perform for your ego is a surefire way to calm your fears while increasing your presentation efficiency. Performing, in this case, means trying to please your ego. Ego shows up as that little voice in your head. The one that constantly tells you what you should do and what you could have done better. In reality, this is your internal thought process and only exists deep inside your head. It has nothing to do with the reality of those people listening to you here and now. That voice is an abstraction buried in your mind. Reality is where measurable change can occur.
The more you train to focus upon serving those listening in front of you with a healthy dose of curiosity and intention, the more you can consciously connect with them and create measurable results. Just like a waiter who "disappears" into the background of a tasty dinner conversation, serving your listeners allows you to "disappear" into their richer and more actionable experience. With practice, increasing your level of service also lowers the volume of your little, internal voice and lessens the fear of the scary thoughts it imparts. Thus, serving more and performing less is a win/win for you and your listener.
Remaining Present:
Staying present with your audience rather than retreating up into your thoughts and fears is the most effective way to reduce or eliminate your fear of presenting. Presence allows you to communicate better. What scares us most is not presenting, but our fear about all those thoughts of what can go wrong when we do. Again, if you can eliminate that little voice in your head representing ego and increase your level of service, you will automatically dampen or eliminate the source of your fears.
Simple, right? Not if you are sure that little voice is you!
Yet, is this true?
What if that voice is just a program containing a bunch of scary thoughts?
Keep in mind that if that little voice is you, then who do you suppose is listening?
When you really begin to distinguish that little voice and all those scary thoughts as a program, or just another subset of you, you can then begin to adjust or pay less attention to them. You become the programmer rather than the program.
Then you can also change the channel and tune into empowering thoughts instead.
Finally, just as if you happen to lose your arm, you would still be you, right?
The same goes when you remain present by training to pay less attention to what's going on between your ears and focus more on serving who is in front of you. Remaining present eliminates distance between you and your listeners and allows you to effectively tackle their concerns, here and now.
Uniting with rather than separating from your listeners:
Connecting more with your listeners by using the above tools is an effective way to unite with your audience. Now, physically walk towards them and you will also sense an increase in connection. Practice asking them more thoughtful questions, listen attentively to their answers and watch your engagement with each other develop further. All of these simple service tools and tips will bring you closer together. They will help create stronger feelings and deepen the relationship between you and your listeners. After all, who do you trust and believe in more, someone you feel you have a relationship with, or someone trying to separate themselves from you?
Still not convinced?
Stand in front of a full-length mirror. Cross your arms and move away from your image. Get a sense how more distance increases your feeling of separation.
Now, walk towards your image, take a few inspiring breaths of air and open up your arms and unite with that person you see. Sense any difference now?

Be more present, inspire, serve, and unite more and enjoy speaking
How many times have you heard others talk about all of these simple tools?
Yet how often have you consciously applied them when standing up and speaking?
Each one alone is powerful, so you can begin by practicing your favorite. Notice how much more connected you feel. Begin combining them and marvel at your increasing level of self-confidence. Take on mastering them and enjoy how much richer your life gets.

How Do I Find My Purpose? #dreams

By David Alan White

This is probably one of the most commonly asked questions that I get when talking to people. They will usually ask me that question after they have heard me talking about the importance of knowing why you are and how fulfilling your life will become when you find your purpose and begin to pursue it. Who am I? Why am I here? These questions have been asked for centuries. This question can be found in the birth of exploration, it was the spark of many wars and conquest and it has birthed countless philosophies and religions.

How do I find My Purpose? Can You See It?
AL Hollingsworth taught me a very important lesson; if you can't see it, it's very hard to do it. That isn't verbatim but, the concept stays true. It looks something like this: if I asked you to hand me a pooku shmooku, what would you hand me? Exactly! But if I told you that a pooku shmooku was like a pencil, then when I asked you to hand me a pooku shmooku, what would you hand me? Exactly! You would hand me a pencil.
You had to first see what it was before you could take some action. This is very important when you are in the planning/vision part of your process. It amazes me how a potter can take a lump of clay and see the finished product in that lump of clay and begin to pull it out of the lump of clay so to speak; they see it first, and then they begin the process of bringing it into existence. This may appear to be a very simplistic outlook but, it is very applicable. When I said that you have to see it before you can do it could start out as a simple thought or idea.
Any successful endeavor requires the ability to see what it should and will look like; there may be some minor or even major adjustments that take place after the work begins but, there must be a vision first. What do you see? There is one thing that I think is very important to remind yourself as you navigate through this process and that is the fact that it can take some time before you truly find out what your purpose is. Many times the answer is directly in front of you but most people tend to overlook it or ignore it because it is so obvious. From the time I was in the fifth grade you would find me helping out people especially if they were being bullied or the perceived underdog.
Well, I have always been that type of person; even if I felt helpless to do anything about helping someone. Injustice would drive me crazy and I lived a life in my early years as a quiet rebel. I would have so many plans to help people, adults and kids alike; I can remember wanting to stop teachers from being so mean to some of the kids in my classes that seemed to take the brunt of the teacher's wrath. I would often sit in a quiet anger, stewing and steaming as I witnessed injustice happen right in front of me.
I'm sure that many of you who are reading this and nodding your head as you remember whatever it is that was your hot button. If you were to take an objective look at your past, I'm sure you will begin to see certain patterns that may give you a clue as to why you are. I'm sure that there are some people that are reading this blog post and have a pretty good idea of what your purpose is but, you may have never thought of it as your purpose, it's just something that you do naturally.
For me, vision is tied to direction; how can anyone reach their destination, their goal without knowing how to get there? I always say that it's a lot like loading up the SUV and hitting the open road to go somewhere you've never been and you don't have some sort of GPS system or roadmap. You can take a chance on asking some random person on the street and hope they know what they're talking about or you can hope for the best as you head out in the direction that feels right to you, you just know that this is the right way to go. Hmm, that's a little sketch for me.

How do I find My Purpose? Are You Strong Enough?
Okay, so here's the part where I hopefully don't lose some people; this is the part where I use that dreaded four letter word - work! Many people desire to be a change agent; they want to be that person of significance. So, here comes the heavy lifting so to speak; it is extremely difficult to have a vision for your future when you are struggling with your present and if we're going to go there, some of you are stuck in your past. Think about it; here you (your emotions, memories and identity) are stuck in the past as you are trying to get to the future as you flounder in the present.
There are so many times when you tried so hard to move forward but will often find yourself back where you started and you can't figure it out; "why does this keep happening?" The heavy lifting that I was referring to is this; if you want to become unstuck in areas of your life, if you know exactly what your purpose or goals are but you just can't see it, if you are desperate for things to change then there is something that I would like for you to consider. I was told this not too long ago; we construct our life story and our life story could be working against us.
Based on the things that were spoken to us and into us, we begin to develop how life is, due to the things that we witnessed at an early age, because of some of the things that happened to us and how we experienced life as a whole; we then begin to embark on a life that will confirm what we have previously concluded how our life will be. Many people are oblivious to how they tend to repeat the same activities; they tend to have the same thought processes, the same relationship patterns and continue to repeat the same types of behaviors. Why is this? Because this type of living doesn't require any type of change and because there is zero requirements to change the cycle, this "rinse and repeat" cycle has become a safe place to stay.
The interesting thing about this "life cycle" that we're living in can be easily justified; we work hard to defend the things that happen to us and then blame those things on why we remain stuck. So, the question is this; what are you willing to do to allow change to take place in your life?

How do I find My Purpose?
So much of the story that we constructed about how our life will be is lived in the past. People tend to stay here because it is easier to prove and confirm what we what we predicted our life to be. If we are living in the past, how can we see what's in the future? Because of this vicious cycle many people resign themselves to a fruitless pursuit of trying but, never accomplishing their goal of purpose. We have become so bogged down with settling for compromise that we become satisfied with counterfeits. I gotta tell ya, this is not a fun place to be in and I know from personal experience!
Here's something that I want you to think about, you can break this current "life cycle" if you want to! I'm gonna run this up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes it; would it surprise you to know that you can actually move from living in the past to living in the present? When we choose to live in the now, the present, we find that there are endless possibilities present and available to us because we are present. If we are present in our daily lives, then we have the opportunity to face things that are presently happening to us and around us head on without being afraid of being wrong or failing. When we remain present we see things clearer, we can look at all of the possibilities that at our disposal.
When you are present, you become responsible for your life and the awesome thing about that truth is this; once you start becoming responsible for your live and learn how to operate without those previous restrictions from your past, you can see something really good. You can see that you can start to rewrite our live story, yep! You can create a new life story and begin to live out your life in a way that proves and confirms what you predict your new life will be! I teach many people how to reconstruct their life story and then I get to see them accomplish things that they never thought they would be able to do. Once you are able to see clearer, you are able to get a better understanding of why you are and not what your past told you.

Once you are able to see clearer, you become aware of those things that lay hidden in that life of the past; when you are able to see all of the possibilities that are available you, you become aware of all those things that have been speaking to the question that used to elude you time and time again. And that question is "why am I here?" "What am I supposed to be doing?" You find your purpose when you stop living in the past as you try to get to a future that you always wanted but could never see. When you choose to stay in the present and take responsibility for your life, you are able to become that change agent that we so desperately need. It takes some determined editing on your part but you can do it.
Disappointment, discouragement and distractions can cause us to feel stuck in life and we often lose sight of our hopes, dreams, purpose and goals. It is never too late to make a course correction in your life. For more information, please visit http://dreamagainrestorativeprograms.org/

Mental Hoarding Will Kill Your Goal Achievement

You've probably seen, or at least heard of, the show Hoarders. It's about people who have become so attached to their things that they can't bear to let them go or throw them away. It gets so bad in many cases on the show that houses are unsafe to live in. Junk clutters the entire house. There's no place to sleep, much less eat or prepare food each day. Often, bathrooms don't work and refrigerators are full of spoiled, moldy food.
It's so bad that it requires an intervention like the kind you do with addicts. Mental health professionals are called in. Yet as bad as it looks to those of us who aren't hoarders, they don't think there's anything wrong. They can't see that having piles of clothes, books, furniture and God knows what else stacked to the ceiling in every room is at best unhealthy. Potentially it's life threatening. Some houses have been truly unsafe to be in.
What does this have to do with Goal Setting?
We can hoard more than just physical stuff. We can hoard mental baggage as well. When it comes to mental baggage, we don't even realize it. Mental baggage is the crap we carry around in our heads that either isn't true anymore, or never was, or is stuff we can't control and shouldn't even try. Mental baggage is the stuff that occupies our minds and keeps us from achieving our Goals, or even working on them.
For instance, we might be worried about our job. What if I get fired? Why does the boss hate me? What am I going to do wrong today? This sort of baggage is the worst kind, because it's not even about things we can control or things that will happen. It's all about what might happen. It's all about things that most likely aren't going to happen too.
Sure, sometimes we should worry about our jobs. Sometimes we should worry about what other people are going to do. Sometimes we should worry about things that might go wrong.
Sometimes. Only sometimes.
We should plan for possibilities, but not worry over the unlikely events that we can't control. It's hard to do that. I get it. I have to remind myself of this all the time.
We also tend to dwell on "what-ifs" far too much. What would happen if I did this? What would happen if my spouse does that? What would happen if I win the lottery?
Then there's the "why did I" thoughts. Why did I do that? Why did I buy that expensive car? Why did I say that to my child? Self-recrimination is not helpful. Self evaluation is. Asking Why without actually looking for a real answer isn't helpful. Asking Why when you're trying to fix something is much better.
We worry. We fantasize what isn't going to happen as if it would. We dwell on the past by blaming ourselves over and over for things we may not have controlled.
All of this keeps us from working on our Goals. We can't devote mental energy to achieving Goals if we use it all up on the mental clutter. These thoughts can dominate our minds and keep us paralyzed. They keep us looking inward and backward without learning anything or fixing anything.
Goal Setting and achievement both require a tremendous amount of physical AND mental energy. We can be physically fit and fine, but if our mental energy has been drained by the mental clutter, our efforts will be less than optimal. Our results will be even worse. Which of course will drain our mental energy even more.

Mental hoarding will KILL your Goal achievement deader than you can imagine.
How do you get past it then?
Just like on the show Hoarders, you have to get rid of what's not important, essential, useful or working in your mind. This means getting rid of limiting beliefs. It means getting rid of unproductive or negative thought habits. It means getting rid of the things that hurt you instead of helping you.
In decluttering our minds, we discard what holds us back. We change our focus. We learn to let go what we don't need and replace it with things we should be working on. We still have to keep certain things though. We should be concerned about our job if we have one. We should be concerned enough to work hard and well. We should be concerned enough to make it unthinkable for us to be fired. We should be concerned about what we say and do as far as it affects others. We should be concerned with how we treat others. We should learn from our mistakes, not relive them over and over.
Once we declutter our minds, we've got the mental energy to move forward. We've got the mental energy to give our best to our Goals. We've got the mental energy to attack what needs to be done instead of surrendering before we even begin.
Setting good goals is essential to your success. Everyone thinks they know how to set goals, but sometimes we don't know or remember some things. Visit http://5things.Success-Maniacs.com/ for a free report called

Your Habits Are Your Personality

By David Samuel

This article is to explore and test the concept of altering the personality through changes of habitual patterns for the purpose of attaining emotional freedom from fears and inhibitions, resulting in healthy self-esteem.
This is the first article in a short series about the relationship between habits and personality, and how to effect permanent, positive changes to ones personality through working with habits.
This first article will give the background on habits in respect to this principle and the relationship to personalty.
The method of changing habits is perhaps the easiest and most effective way to refine and change ones life.
All good and bad in our life is due to our personality, who we are as an individual. This is because our personality determines how we behave and the resulting ways people react to us.
Your personality is a collection of habits. Most of our life experiences are limited, or expanded, by our habits. For example, if you have a habitual pattern for when you wake up, if you need to brush your teeth, have a shower, do certain things you like to do, and for that you require the comforts of your own home, then you may be reluctant to travel, or not have a good time travelling. There will be resistance to different environments, and so a fear of travel or at least a limit of where you are willing to travel to will limit your experiences and direct knowledge.
There are habits for every aspect of our life. Eating, sleeping, walking, health related, and more importantly; communication, relationships and working habits.
An example of a communication habit, which will effect your relationships, is if when having a conversation, you always cut people off in mid-sentence, always interrupting. Or you may always contradict what anyone says to show you know more than they do.
Perhaps you are always justifying your mistakes and actions, never admitting when you are wrong. Or, you are a compulsive liar.
You may communicate in a way that you never say anything about yourself, and always just ask questions because you think that makes people feel better around you, but in fact it is because you do not want to open up and make a connection. You may agree with anything anyone says, and flip flop showing no opinions of your own.
These are just some examples of habits but you will find your own as we progress in this series. Not all habits are bad. We have many good habits, but again, the point at this stage is to establish that our personality is a collection of habitual, and thus learnt and formed, behaviour. Once we openly see that we are formed, then we can change any habit.
Conversely, you may have a habit of trying new things, perhaps you travel each year to a new country so you can experience new foods and cultures. Or you may have a habit of talking to new people randomly, and making new friends.
Our life experiences are determined by our habits. Habits perpetuate fears and limitations, or they can enhance our life experiences.
Now we come to the point, which is, how to improve our personality. Everyone has some flaws in their personality that they do not like which are self-destructive or limiting, and want to change, but do not know how.
The problem is that many methods are dealing with the leaves on the tree instead of the roots. If you look at the character trait, rather than the mechanical function of how the mind works to perpetuate it, it is like cutting the leaves to kill the tree, new leaves will grow back.
My proposition is that the personality is a collection of habits, and by changing any and many habits, we can change the entire personality. The analogy is that the personality is the leaves rather than the core of our being, and the psychological function of how habits are developed and maintained is the root of the problem.
By working on the root, habits, things can permanently change. The root in our method is the basis of how humans function, which is robotically and habitually, but yet unaware of this purely mechanical function. If you don't know it's broken or what the real source is, you cannot fix a problem.
Many character traits are simply acquired by the process of natural human development from birth by observation and imitation. There is no negative reason behind some habits, they just form due to your being raised a certain way, such as the use of fingers or cutlery when eating, even the way which one holds ones cutlery. Or, if you are Malaysian, you use a fork and spoon but do not use a knife, for example.
There is nothing inherently wrong with using a fork and spoon and not be able to use a knife. This is an example of a neutral habit, and one that is perfect to change. Not all habits are good or bad or formed to meet some subconscious purpose.
Some habits are just cultural and form you into who you are. And this is the key, that they are formed without any conscious thought about being good, bad or relevant, and if there is a better way.
We can all change and no longer live in the limitations of outdated methods or principles to which their purpose has degraded over generations of mindless repetition. You have a choice, if you put in the effort to change what you have been formed into, you can become more than just a normal human.

Speed of Change
Children learn fast because they do not have habits. Adults learn slowly because they are full of habits. Habits limit learning because any new information has to pass through the preexisting habitual behaviour.
An example of the limitation to learning is if one interrupts others mid-sentence, they never hear a full explanation of things, and thus only learn half, or perhaps nothing. If you do this or know someone who does, you will also know that many mistakes are made due to someone working with partial information. Ninety percent of arguments could be avoided by the correction of this single habit.
Open Your Mind
To open your mind and overcome all negative qualities, we can use the approach of eliminating all habits, right down to the way you brush your teeth or which hand holds the fork and knife.
It is actually quite a simple thing to do, merely, do anything and everything differently, as long as it does not cause harm. For example, you would not want to start driving a car with your eyes closed instead of looking around. But you may want to start paying more attention when driving to continually check the wing and rearview mirrors and not just look in front of you, so you have a constant awareness of what is near your car.
As your habits change, so will your personality. At this point, you may resist this concept with the thought that your personality may change for the worse. The answer is in the comparison of an adult to a child. Just look at people of all ages and compare the energy, facial expressions, vibrance which shows their overall joy for life, and you will find the younger the person, the brighter they are.
We can all have that same youthful joy through very old age by simply returning to this one difference. To have, or not to have, as many habits as possible.
The process begins with the following exercise.
For the next 2 or 3 weeks, list every habit you have.
When you notice a habit, just put it on a list. There is nothing more to do at this point, just list them.
Examples of habits are detailed above and some other examples are:
Always have a coffee first thing in the morning.
When you wake up, you have a sort of ritual, the things you do in a specific order before you do anything else.
The way you eat, any eating habits.
How do you converse. Do you interrupt people when they talk, or have any other consistent reaction during conversations?
Any tiny little habit, or big habit is to be discovered and noted.
For more information about yourself, you can ask anyone close to you what they notice you do habitually.

Take the Stress Out of Stress

How would it be if you awoke every day feeling refreshed and confident about the day ahead, with enough energy and resilience in reserve to tackle whatever might be thrown your way? Yes, unexpected challenges crop up from time to time but how would it be, if in the main, you knew yourself well enough to be able to manage stress, cope well and have some time for yourself, including breaks for those important people and things in your life?
In a busy life we often focus on work, letting home, friends and outside interests take care of themselves. But often personal areas will stay quiet, gently fading into the background, not wanting to force us to choose or add to our stress. At some point the realisation hits us. Friends and family don't include us anymore. They are living their lives without us. It may take a while for us to notice, but it's not an uncommon situation.
Some stress is good for us. It keeps us on our toes, helps us think outside the box, come up with new ideas, deliver more than we thought we could. But continual stress is counter-productive and can cause many issues and ailments over time. There are a documented 360 physical symptoms of stress and you may be working your way through them all!
At first the occasional symptom may go unnoticed or be explained away. The intermittent headaches, sleepless nights, irritability, disappearing sense of humour, poor concentration can be explained away through being busy and overloaded. You may have a stressful period at work, problems at home, health-related concerns, things on your mind.
But if they continue unabated or start to escalate it may be time to address what's going on, what the root cause or trigger is to these changes in your equilibrium. Ignored, things often continue until you can't discount or brush them aside any more. The continual drips can escalate into an overflow which starts to impact and affect every area of your life.
Starting to take responsibility and own how you're feeling, the way you're living your life is an important first step to manage stress. When we acknowledge our responses, recognise that we need to take control and then start to do so we become more able to move to a better place both mentally and physically.

Here are some steps to take the stress out of stress;

Does dealing with stress mean compartmentalising it, leaving it at the door, or is it more effective to find positive ways to manage your life so that every area has balance as often as possible?
- Recognise what's going on with you. What is your inner voice saying; that you must do it all yourself or feel guilty, a failure, less successful? Do you fear being 'caught out', found to be an imposter if others step in to help? Recognise the triggers, the situations or phrases people use that influence your stress levels.
- Revise your perspective. Notice the difference in your outlook from when you're feeling happy and upbeat, or conversely battered and fed up. It's often not what happens to us but how we're feeling and responding that's the determining factor. Take control and focus on what your viable choices are. Appreciate what you have already in your life.
- Be kind to yourself by being healthy, with regular good food, water, exercise. Take time to read a book or even do nothing. Simply parking the car for a 15 minutes break after work can really benefit your mood and stress levels for when you return home.
- Manage the overwhelm by delegating, sharing and regularly communicating what's going on. Ask for help, don't expect others to be psychic. And when you bring others in to help they may thrive with the additional responsibility, seeing it as a chance to grow, improve their skills and perhaps even impress you with new ideas and better ways of doing things.
- 'No' can be most positive word in your vocabulary. Teach others to respect you, to understand what you do every day and value how much you do for them. Encourage their gratitude and appreciation.
- 'Yes' can be negative if it's become your constant default to everything that's asked of you. Do you agree out of fear, apprehension, guilt? Used positively 'yes' can move you out of your comfort zone and scare you a little every day.
- Break big tasks into bite-sized chunks so that you're the decision-maker, moving and feeling proactive.

Why not manage stress by selecting 3 of these items to action in the next 48 hours;

1. Outsource tasks that are not in your area of expertise. Hiring someone to manage your accounts, PR, advertising could be money well spent and free you to focus on your main business. Maybe hire someone to do your domestic chores, your cleaning, ironing, gardening and use that free time to do something for yourself.
2. Share with family. Your partner often wants to be there for you. Discuss what you're going through and let them be supportive. Even children can have tasks that are their responsibility, maybe setting the table or loading the dishwasher. Communicate and ask for help.
3. Ensure you have family time by sitting and eating together, even if it's just once a week. Keep two-way channels of communication open so it's not all about you. Be interested in what's going on in their lives and remember what you've been told so you can follow-up again.
4. Turn off technology at a set time in the evenings, unless there's an occasional emergency that needs your attention. Allow yourself to switch off, preferably for a couple of hours before bed. If you commit to specific time slots each day to go online you'll avoid wasting time by constantly checking. You'll have more free time and be able to invest genuine attention in your real relationships.
5. Treat sleep as important. Stress and sleep-related issues cost UK businesses £40 billion last year, or the equivalent of 200,000 days lost productivity, due to accidents, absenteeism and poor performance. Prepare to sleep well by winding down for an hour or two before bed. Avoid that heavy conversation last thing at night, plan for the next day by making a list of impending tasks, maybe have your clothes ready, the children's lunches packed.
6. Try to maintain a regular routine, a relaxing bath or shower to wash away the day's cares. If you have a busy physical job try to introduce balance with mentally challenging interests like quizzes, puzzles, interesting conversations, or mentally demanding work might be balanced by scheduling physical activity like the gym or a walk.
7. It can be fun to regularly get outside and maybe share that time with family by taking a walk, game of football, playing together.
8. Reward each stage of your journey with treats, me time and self-praise. Trying deserves recognition, even if things don't work out how you'd hoped.
9. Commit to ongoing training, learning, developing, improvement. Keep your brain active so that you're engaged and stimulated.
Stress is a fact of everyday life, but by incorporating a few basic steps you can implement effective ways to take the stress out of stress!
